Joyce has become a favorite with our readers and many have asked that she write a book compiling some of her articles. They will no doubt be delighted to hear the wonderful news about this printing of Lumpy Porridge and other Scottish Memories. In this book, she captures the spirit of Scottish hum our, which is understated and based in a tradition of laughing at the Scot's own foibles.

Och, ye cannae believe a word the lassie says. She's lived in Florida so long the sun's biled her heid. But the stories are good for a wee chuckle.

By turns heartwarming, and hilarious, Joyce D'Auria's Lumpy Porridge is a fond look at life in her native Scotland. If you are from the land of Robert the Bruce and Bonnie Prince Charles, then these stories will take you back. If you are not, you will want to go.

It's pure Glesca' - I loved it. I laughed and laughed and could relate to all the stories. The sometimes poetic prose and the plummy language mixed with the Glasgow dialect is both a surprise and a delight.
